Everything You Need To Know About TRON

Location

You can find TRON next to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. The coaster is not yet on the official park map, but here’s where you’ll be able to soon find the attraction.

Height Requirement

At this time, it is unclear what the height requirement will be for TRON. But, at Shanghai Disneyland, guests must be at least 48 inches tall.

Similar style coasters at WDW, like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, have a height requirement of 48 inches.

Be sure to check out our guides on WDW thrill rides and height requirements for attractions.

Rider Switch & Single Rider

It hasn’t been announced whether or not TRON will offer Rider Switch or a Single Rider Line.

History

The addition of TRON to Magic Kingdom was first announced in July 2017 during the D23 Expo presentation.

Initially, the attraction was slated to open in time for WDW’s 50th anniversary in 2021, but due to the unexpected closure of the resort and the pandemic, there’s a chance the intended opening could be delayed.

An actual opening date has yet to be announced.

Queue

We’re not sure what the queue will look like, but most likely part of the queue will be indoors, where guests will board their Lightcycle.

Knowing Disney, there could even be an interactive queue element, like they do for many of their attractions.

Motion Sickness

It’s uncertain if this ride will cause motion sickness, but seeing as it is a thrill ride and also a coaster, chances are likely. We have a guide on motion sickness that’s filled with information and tips, so feel free to check that out.

Ride Vehicles

Even though the ride isn’t open, we do know what the ride vehicles look like. Check them out below.

There are two vehicles side by side. Each rider is strapped into their own vehicle similar to Avatar Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom. It’s essentially like you’re riding a Lightcycle, aka a motorcycle, from the movie.

You can see below how guests ride next to each other. The vehicle straps them in by pushing them forward. Your chest will press against the front of the ride vehicle, making you feel tight and secure.

Is It Kid-Friendly?

Based on photos and videos of the attraction in Shanghai Disneyland, this might not be for all little ones, especially if they aren’t tall enough. If they don’t like roller coasters or thrill rides, they may want to avoid TRON, like several other things that might scare little ones at WDW.

PhotoPass/On-Ride Photos

We don’t know yet if PhotoPass will be part of TRON and if guests will have an on-ride photo taken.

Be sure to read more on PhotoPass and how Memory Maker works.

Video

If you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t watch, but here’s what the TRON attraction is like at Shanghai Disneyland.
