Test Track is perfect for car lovers and allows guests to create their own virtual concept car before hopping into a “SIM Car” and going through a series of automobile tests.

- Description: Guests on this ride first spend time in a pre-show room with computer screens where you build your own car. You then proceed to the ride area and board a car. Once boarded, you ride a convertible car through various car tests, ending in a high-speed lap outside. Many people are confused about how their designed car relates to the ride itself. If you look on the screens throughout the ride (after every car test), you should see the car you designed and how it performs compared to the cars designed by other people in your ride vehicle. The exit area of this ride allows you to do other things with the car you designed, including driving it on a virtual track. You can also pose with various real cars with virtual backgrounds to get your picture taken and emailed to you.

Height Requirement

Rider Switch & Single Rider
You can use Rider Switch for Test Track. If you don’t know, this is Disney’s system that allows guests with small children to take turns riding bigger rides, while another person/people wait with the little one.
There is also a Single Rider Line available, which means you’ll ride alone and enter this queue, instead of the Standby Line.
History
After a grand (and delayed) opening, Test Track debuted in 1999 and was originally sponsored by General Motors.
Test Track actually replaced World of Motion, which showcased the evolution of transportation and operated from October 1982 through January 1996.
When the ride first opened, the vehicles looked like actual test cars, so much so they were even painted yellow with white and black patterns.
However, Test Track closed for an extensive overhaul in April 2021 and didn’t reopen until December of that same year.
The updates included Chevrolet taking over as the ride’s sponsor, hence the name, “Test Track Presented by Chevrolet.”
An interactive queue was also installed allowing guests to enter a Design Studio to create their own custom virtual car concept and see how their design compares to the SIM Car in Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power.
The ride vehicles themselves, aka “SIM Cars,” were also altered in color and design.
Queue
Test Track’s queue is both indoors and outdoors, with the majority inside. But, what makes the line so special is that it’s an interactive queue giving guests the chance to design their very own vehicle.
At one point in the queue, guests will enter the Design Studio. There are different touch screens installed where you’ll create a custom virtual car concept.
You’ll be able to choose your vehicle, color, type, graphics, wheel size, and more.
You’ll even draw an outline of your vehicle, but, don’t worry, you can refine it and also adjust the shape, length, and width.
As for engine type, you can also select that as well. You can choose from Solar Drive, EV Hybrid, and Plasma Burner, among others.
Once complete, you’ll board a SIM Car and see how your design compares to the SIM Car in Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power.
Motion Sickness
Test Track has tight turns, abrupt stops, and can be rough in certain spots. You also race around a circular track at a speed of 65 miles per hour, which may not settle well with certain guests. If you need it, we have a guide on motion sickness that’s filled with information and tips.
Ride Vehicles
Each car has two rows that can fit three people for a total of six guests in one ride vehicle. Like an actual car, you wear a seatbelt.
Is It Kid-Friendly?
Test Track is a fun ride. It’s like going really fast on a highway, but not all little ones may like it. There are darker areas as you ride through, along with quick turns and abrupt stops.
Plus, you speed around a track at 65 miles per hour. Some kids might love it, whereas others may not.

PhotoPass/On-Ride Photos
Your photo is taken on Test Track — and it’s always a funny one. Let’s just say there’s no controlling wind-blown hair.
When you ride with a MagicBand and a linked Memory Maker entitlement, your photo will automatically be uploaded to your My Disney Experience account. The same can be said if you’re a WDW Annual Passholder.

At the end of the ride, there’s also a touch point for those without a MagicBand to tap their park ticket or Memory Maker card. Your photo will then be added to your account.
So where is the camera? As soon as your car goes outside and down a hill, your photo will be snapped.
