Festival Of The Lion King’s Modified Show Set To Debut In Mid-May

We have some more good news about Festival of the Lion King’s return to Animal Kingdom. The show celebrating The Lion King is set to debut in mid-May!

Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle revealed the exciting news on Monday, April 19, alongside two photos and a video posted on Instagram.

“Our cast is back in rehearsals for ‘A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King,’ preparing for the show’s mid-May debut as entertainment continues to return across Walt Disney World,” Vahle wrote.

He added, “Disney’s Animal Kingdom Vice President Sarah Riles and I stopped in to welcome them recently, and hearing that wonderful, familiar music put a lump in my throat. Thrilled to have these talented Cast Members back on our stage!”

In January, Disney announced that Festival of the Lion would finally be returning in summer 2021, but the beloved show may look a bit different due to the implementation of necessary health and safety protocols.

At the time of the initial announcement, Disney made it clear that the show would return in a “modifed format” and that adjustments would be made both on stage and behind-the-scenes.

Specifically, there will be updates to choreography to allow for physical distancing and changes to audience seating.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated when an exact return date is announced, along with any other important information. Who else can’t wait to see Festival of the Lion King again?
