It only seems appropriate that Disney would reveal some Star Wars-related news on May the 4th, right?
Well, they did exactly that and when they revealed that the launch date for the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel has been pushed to 2022.
Initially, the hotel was slated to open sometime in 2021, but now fans won’t be able to experience the Galactic Starcruiser until sometime next year.
An exact opening date has not been announced, nor have reservations opened and we also don’t know pricing. When those details become known, we will let you know.
Alongside the 2022 opening reveal, Disney also revealed a new type of lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development.
As seen below, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests will be the first to see it in action.
If that isn’t enough, one of the dining experiences onboard was also revealed — the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.
Below is the artist concept rendering that was shared today for the first time. It will offer breakfast and lunch before transitioning each evening into a multi-course menu of both “otherworldly and familiar origins.”
Guests can also expect “an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, possibly including the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.”
The “galactic superstar” will also be a featured performer at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.
For a limited time, Hollywood Studios guests can also now see a model of the Halcyon starscruiser on display inside Walt Disney Presents. Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle shared some images and a video on Instagram.
This isn’t your typical hotel, but, rather a two-day, two-night all-immersive experience. How it works is guests stay onboard a starcruiser, a ship named the Halcyon.
Upon arrival, guests are ushered into a launch pod, where a simulated experience of blasting off into space begins. Once the capsule lands, doors open into The Atrium of the starcruiser.
There will be all kinds of Star Wars-related experiences, activities, dining, and more. Plus, guests will even take an exclusive transport to the planet of Batuu and emerge straight out into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
