We officially have confirmation that maximum park operating capacity has increased. During a Nov. 12 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced (via BlogMickey.com) that park capacity is now 35 percent. It was previously 25 percent.
According to BlogMickey.com, Chapek said during the call, “In fact, Walt Disney World, which was at a 25 percent capacity constraint which was our industrial engineering estimates to keep 6 foot social distancing, now has been able to increase to 35 percent of capacity.”
“So, almost a 50 percent increase in the number of guests that we can allow in, and still adhere to the local guidelines and the guidelines that are stipulated by the CDC with the 6 foot social distancing,” Chapek added.
As Chapek noted, even though capacity has increased, the other health and safety protocols, specifically social distancing, are still being maintained. Face coverings, temperature checks, and more also remain intact.
There’s been an obvious increase in crowds since WDW first reopened in July following its temporary closure due to the ongoing pandemic.
So much so, Disney CFO Christine McCarthy also revealed that 77 percent of the Disney Park Pass System reservations have been booked for the rest of the 2020 holiday season with Thanksgiving week close to hitting capacity. But, again, social distancing hasn’t gone away.

A lot has certainly changed at the parks and resorts, so it’s best to be educated right now, especially when it comes to airplane travel and WDW’s health and safety measures.
An increase in park capacity might concern some, but if social distancing can be maintained and other safety protocols aren’t going anywhere, those are definitely positives.
