Walt Disney World Is Temporarily Closing Due To Coronavirus Concerns

We all anticipated it and it finally happened on Thursday, March 12. Walt Disney World is temporarily closing due to concerns over COVID-19, also known as coronavirus.

According to the official park statement, WDW and also Disneyland Paris Resort will officially close starting at the close of business this Sunday, March 15 through the end of the month due to “an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our guests and employees.”

Hotels at both WDW and Disneyland Paris will remain open until further notice. The same can be said with shops and dining at Disney Springs in WDW and Disney Village in Disneyland Paris. The Walt Disney World Company will also continue to pay its cast members during the closure period.

In addition to WDW and Disneyland Paris, Disney Cruise Line is also suspending all new departures beginning Saturday, March 14 through the end of the month.

The same can be said with Disneyland Resort, which will temporarily close beginning March 14 through the end of the month. Disneyland Resort hotels will remain open until Monday, March 16 to give guests the chance to make necessary travel arrangements. Downtown Disney will remain open as well.

This means that every Disney park across the globe will be closed at the same time. Shanghai Disney, Tokyo Disney, and Hong Kong Disneyland have all been temporarily closed for a while now also due to COVID-19.
