Happily Ever After Is Ending & More Disney World Entertainment Returns

It’s the end of an era. Disney announced on July 21 that Happily Ever After is ending on Sept. 29, 2021.

On June 22, Walt Disney World revealed an all-new nighttime spectacular called “Disney Enchantment” would debut at Magic Kingdom starting Oct. 1 for the 50th anniversary.

At the time, it remained unclear if Happily Ever After would end temporarily and return after the milestone anniversary (which runs until April 1, 2023). Now we know it’s ending for good.

Per Disney, “That means this summer is also your last chance to come out and catch the current fireworks shows before they sparkle into Disney history.”

Happily Ever After debuted in 2017, so it hasn’t been around that long. But, there is the new “Disney Enchantment” to look forward to.

Disney says the new nighttime show “will take you on a journey filled with adventure, wonder and empowerment.” It will also include, for the first time, projections extending from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.

It’s also unclear if Disney Enchantment will become permanent or if it will only run for the duration of the 50th. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop if or when we learn more.

As for some other news, it was announced that Epcot Forever’s temporary run will conclude on Sept. 28 making way for the highly-anticipated debut of Harmonious on Oct. 1.

And — other entertainment is returning across Disney World in 2021 as well:

  • Aug. 1 — Wonderful World of Animation at Hollywood Studios’ Chinese Theater
  • Aug. 8 — Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom
  • Aug. 15 — Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage at Hollywood Studios’ Theater of the Stars
  • Aug. 21 — Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot

It’s always good to see the return of shows to the parks, along with new entertainment. But it’s definitely sad to say goodbye to favorites like Happily Ever After.
