Harmonious Dining Package vs. Disney Enchantment Dessert After-Party

HomeA Disney World Dining Package & Dessert Party Comparison
Harmonious Dining Package vs. Disney Enchantment Dessert After-Party

To purchase a fireworks dining package or a fireworks dessert party, that is the question.

In September 2021, Walt Disney World announced the return of dining packages at Epcot and dessert parties at Magic Kingdom just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration.

These special events provide guests the opportunity to enjoy nighttime spectaculars at each park in unique ways with extras, like food, drinks, and reserved viewing locations.

The catch? They cost extra — and they aren’t cheap.

Over the start of the 50th anniversary on Oct. 1, 2021, we were lucky enough to snag reservations for the Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining Package and the Magic Kingdom 50th Fireworks Dessert Parties: Disney Enchantment After-Party.

So, what did we think? Are they worth the time and money? Are the extras even that good?

We’re here to not only offer our honest reviews of both, but to hopefully give you enough information that you’ll be able to decide whether or not to make a reservation and spend a big chunk of change to see two individual nighttime spectaculars that are already accessible to all guests.

There’s definitely a lot to think about (and spend) when it comes to any Disney parks add-on, so let’s get to the Harmonious Dining Package vs. Disney Enchantment Dessert After-Party match.

Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining Package

The Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining Package gives guests the chance to dine on Mediterranean-themed food from an outdoor covered patio while watching the nighttime spectacular.

Quick Overview

  • Price: $72 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $31 per child (ages 3 to 9); pricing includes tax and gratuity
  • Location: Morocco Pavilion in Epcot
  • Nighttime Spectacular: Harmonious
  • What’s Included: 2 small plates, 1 dessert platter to share, unlimited beverages, reserved fireworks viewing
  • Good for: People who aren’t looking for a perfect view, but rather just a good meal with slightly obstructed Harmonious views as a bonus
  • Reservations: You can make reservations online up to 60 days in advance

Important: Theme park admission is required and not included in the dining package price. You must also make a theme park reservation.

The Process

You can start checking in for Spice Road Table 45 minutes before the show starts at the host stand.

You may even receive a text after you check in when your table is ready. We didn’t, but we were told there was an error which prevented the text; your experience may vary.

There are no wristbands given out (unlike the Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties); you’re simply escorted to your table when it is time.

Since this is reserved seating, you don’t really have to worry about snagging a good table. But, you may want to arrive a bit earlier to see if you can get in before other guests to try to pick a table with a better view.

We also recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before check in to make sure you get seated right at 9. This way you’ll have more time to enjoy your food and drinks before Harmonious begins.

At the end of the show, we weren’t really allowed to linger. We did finish our remaining beverages, but once our server said goodbye and thanked us it felt like they were ready for us to leave.

So, just keep in mind that once the fireworks are over, you probably won’t be able to hang for much longer.

The Menu

There is a set prix fixe menu, where you can pick two small plates, are served a set dessert platter for the table, and try unlimited beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

Tap below on each menu image for a better view of the choices.

Here’s what we ordered.

Small Plates

  • Tiropitakia: Cheese-filled Phyllo, Cucumber-Tomato Relish (this was excellent)

  • Grilled Lamb Kefta: Tzatziki, Radish, Blistered Cherry Tomato (very delicious)

  • Hummus Fries (plant-based): Citrus-Chipotle and Preserved Lemon (spicy, but so good)

  • Spicy Shrimp: Chili, Garlic, Peri Peri Sauce (yet another fantastic dish)

Drinks

  • Opici Family White Sangria (Spain) and Casa Lager (Mexico): The sangria was watered-down and had no flavor, but the beer was a solid beer

  • Tusker Pale Lager (Kenya): A good beer that you can actually get at other places on property, including the Animal Kingdom area

  • Opici Family Red Sangria (Spain): Just like the white sangria, this was watered-down and overall very disappointing

Note: I (Allyson) have had the white sangria here during regular dining and it’s been stellar, so I’m not sure if the recipe changed or if they serve a different style for the dining package. But, I recommend avoiding the sangria.

Dessert

  • You get assorted Baklavas and a soft cookie. All of this was good, but we (Allyson and Felicia) weren’t fans of the cookie, because it has almond flavoring.

Note: As with most Disney restaurants, there are selections for guests with allergies or other special dietary requests. Just make sure you notify Disney before you arrive and remind a Cast Member when you check in so they can ensure you get items that are safe for you to eat

The View

spice road table fireworks dining package view

You watch the fireworks on the covered outdoor patio. Overall, this isn’t a horrible view, but, as you can see, it depends where you’re seated.

There’s a small section close to the lagoon reserved for those who booked the dining package. Parties with 3 or more will be seated at tables closer to the railing, whereas smaller parties of 1 or 2 are seated at tables the second row in from the railing.

The view here isn’t the best, even close to the railing, which is obviously the better view. On our visit, the restaurant lighting was only slightly dimmed, which made it harder to see, and because of that we didn’t get the full “nighttime spectacular” effect.

The nice thing about Harmonious is that you can find good views nearly anywhere around the entire World Showcase.

Are there some spots that are better than others? Yes. But, there are lots and lots of spots that are perfectly fine.

But, even though the view from here is slightly obstructed, that doesn’t mean you can’t see the show. Just make sure you understand that it’s just an ok view. You may even have a pillar in your way.

We also recommend that everyone remain seated so all guests can see the show and fireworks.

Is It Worth It?

harmonious fireworks spice road table

So, is the Spice Road Table Harmonious Dining Package worth it?

This all depends on what you’re looking for and what you’re willing to spend.

If the price is appealing, you want good food, reserved seating (and not having to save seats 1 to 2 hours ahead of time), then a dining package might be the way to go for you.

But, this dining package (and the Rose & Crown Fireworks Dining Package) are far from cheap and affordable, especially for families.

Personally, and as excellent as Spice Road Table’s food is, we would rather watch Harmonious elsewhere. And if you haven’t seen this new show yet, this isn’t the view you want for your first viewing.

Also know that you can order many of Spice Road Table’s dining package menu offerings during regular dining as well. So, if you want to try the food without having to fork over a lot of money, try going here another time during your trip.

Honestly, although we haven’t had a chance to try it yet, we suspect that if you are searching for something special or extra to do at Epcot, the Rose and Crown Harmonious Dining Package would be the better choice. You’d get a much better view for just a little bit more per person.

But, if you’d rather save your money for something else, there are many other great fireworks viewing locations around World Showcase, but you will have to start grabbing your spot at least 1 to 2 hours before the show begins (depending on crowds and other factors).

Here are some other viewing locations we recommend for Harmonious:

  • Canada: Right across from where the current festival booth is usually located before you enter the actual pavilion; near torch 16, good for an exit out the front of the park
  • France: Near where Belle usually meets catty corner from Les Chefs de France, great for a quick exit out the International Gateway
  • Between Mexico and Canada: If you want a perfect, centered-view of the massive barge ring, try to find a spot between Mexico and Canada Note: these spots fill up first, and large chunks will be reserved seating, but there are still some non-reserved spots to be had if you are willing to snag one early

Magic Kingdom 50th Fireworks Dessert Parties: Disney Enchantment After-Party

Magic kingdom dessert parties

The Disney Enchantment After-Party is a dessert party that allows guests to have first dibs on outdoor reserved fireworks viewing and then enjoy a range of sweets and beverages at Tomorrowland Terrace after the show ends.

Quick Overview

  • Price: $99 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $59 per child (ages 3 to 9); tax included (gratuity not included or required)
  • Location: Tomorrowland Terrace in Tomorrowland and Plaza Garden Viewing Area in the Hub
  • Nighttime Spectacular: Disney Enchantment
  • What’s Included: Reserved fireworks viewing, an unlimited buffet of desserts and drinks
  • Good for: People who want a great view of Disney Enchantment without fighting the crowds
  • Reservations: You can make reservations online up to 60 days in advance

Important: Theme park admission is required and not included in the dining package price. You must also make a theme park reservation.

The Process

Dessert party check in

You’ll first have to check in for the dessert party at Tomorrowland Terrace.

Disney will give you a time to check in, but you should be there 30 to 45 minutes before the time provided if you want first choice at firework viewing spots in the garden area.

There will be 3 separate lines for the 3 different dessert parties held each night (Pre-Party, After-Party, Treats & Seats) so make sure you’re in the correct line for the After-Party and not the other two dessert parties that are also available.

When checking in, you’ll be given a colored wristband for access to the fireworks viewing area, along with a separate wristband if you’re over 21 years of age (you must provide proof of ID).

You’ll then be escorted to the viewing area, where you can grab your seat. These are first-come, first-served.

When attending the After-Party, this means you can choose a fireworks spots while the Pre-Party dessert guests are dining on desserts at Tomorrowland Terrace before the show.

So, if you want a good fireworks spot, the After-Party is the dessert party you want to purchase.

After watching Disney Enchantment, you can make your way over to Tomorrowland Terrace on your own or be escorted by a Cast Member.

If you’re comfortable walking over (and through the crowds of people) without a Cast Member, you can sometimes be first in line to reserve a table (you’re given a “reserved” sign that you place on a table so no one else takes your spot) in the upper part of Tomorrowland Terrace for yourself.

You also can grab your drinks and desserts first!

The Menu

There are a range of desserts available:

  • Butterscotch Pudding with Caramel Popcorn *WDW Prep School favorite
  • Firehouse Doughnuts: Ricotta doughnuts rolled in Cinnamon Sugar served with Strawberry topping (can also be found at Tony’s Town Square)

  • Chocolate Covered Strawberry

  • Chilling Chamber Pop: Vanilla Crumbs, Caramel Buttercream, and Graham Cracker Crumbs (can also be found at Sleepy Hollow) *WDW Prep School favorite

  • Cheese and Crackers are also available, but only one kind of cheese is served with a variety of crackers. We wish there would have been more savory options.

As for the alcoholic beverages, those of age (21 and older) can take two at a time:

  • Veramonte Chardonnay
  • Zolo Signature Red Blend
  • Villa Rosa Moscato d’Asti
  • Paul Cheneau Lady of Spain Cuvee Cava
  • Blue Moon Belgian White Ale
  • Bud Light

There’s also a range of non-alcoholic options, including water, POG juice (yes, the famous POG juice!), milk, coffee (including decaf), tea, lemonade, strawberry lemonade, iced tea, and sparkling cider.

The View

Disney Enchantment fireworks

Overall, the Plaza Garden area closest to Tomorrowland Terrace has a pretty great view.

But, you won’t be able to see the new projections on Main Street from this area. Instead, you’ll only see the new projections on the castle and surrounding fireworks for Disney Enchantment.

Disney Enchantment

That said, the main show is on the castle and those the projections down Main Street aren’t really that important. You won’t lose any context to the show or find it any less entertaining.

Also, Tinkerbell still flies during the finale of Disney Enchantment and you can see her really well from this area!

Is It Worth It?

Magic Kingdom dessert party seating

There’s no denying the After-Party is pricey, especially for families, which is definitely a con.

But, there are many pros, like you don’t have to fight the crowds for a space to watch the fireworks. You also have a table to sit at and eat all the desserts.

Plus, this particular dessert party gives you first dibs on grabbing a fireworks spot while the Pre-Party dessert guests are dining on desserts at Tomorrowland Terrace before the show.

Better yet, you can avoid the massive amounts of people after the show is over and have a chance to enjoy Magic Kingdom a little bit longer while the long lines at transportation disperse.

Depending on what time the park closes, you may even be able to squeeze in at least one more attraction before leaving.

During our After-Party, we weren’t rushed out and had time to actually enjoy ourselves for a bit. This could have been due to the park remaining open until 11 p.m.

All the After-Party events might not be like this, and we suspect that had the park closed earlier, we may have felt a bit more rushed.

If you’d rather skip the party and save money in the process, there are still plenty of other great fireworks viewing locations around the Hub, but it can get very crowded and sometimes you have save spots up to at least 2 hours beforehand (depending on crowds and other factors).

Als keep in mind that you can even find some of the desserts offered at Magic Kingdom Quick Service spots (see the menu above). If you want to try one, you can do it on your own time.

Dining Package & Dessert Party Comparison

Comparison Chart

Dessert party and dining package comparison chart

First, let’s go over the pros and cons.

Harmonious Dining Package Pros & Cons

  • Pros: Reserved seating, excellent food, a place to sit and relax
  • Cons: Just an ok fireworks view

Disney Enchantment After-Party Pros & Cons

  • Pros: First dibs on Plaza Garden viewing spots for the show, don’t have to save seats, chance to enjoy desserts while crowds disperse, possibility of hanging longer in the parks
  • Cons: Desserts aren’t anything fancy (some aren’t even exclusive to the party)

If we had to choose one? We’d pick the Disney Enchantment After-Party.

It is more expensive than Spice Road Table, but there are more pros. Plus, the nighttime spectacular crowds at Epcot aren’t crammed together like they are on Main Street and in the Hub at Magic Kingdom.

We’d rather have a reserved spot for Disney Enchantment compared to Harmonious (the dessert party viewing is better than Spice Road Table.)

You just really have to decide if you’re willing to pay the hefty price tag, if you don’t want to save seats ahead of time (this also means more time to do what you want), and if you want desserts or an actual meal during the fireworks.

It’s all personal preference, but hopefully our comparison has helped you decide if either of these options are right for you.

On the chart for the Enchantment pre-party you say the viewing is on the Tomorrowland Terrace but I thought it was on the Plaza Garden? And the treats and seats guests stay on the Terrace? Can you confirm?

You are correct. The Pre-Party viewing is in the Plaza Garden and the Treats and Seats has viewing on Tomorrowland Terrace. We've updated the chart. Thanks!

Thanks for the great pros and cons list. We have eaten at most of the restaurants at EPCOT, but not England. Thus, I think the Rose and Crown party would be nice. We enjoyed the jingle bam party a few years back. Not having to pick a spot for fireworks several hours early is a plus.
